Outdoor dining, long a feature of Main Street in downtown Huntington Beach, got a boost on Monday when the city council voted to temporarily close a block there to traffic to allow dining in the public right-of-way.
Operators of eateries in that stretch will be able to set up seating and tables on the sidewalk and street in front of their establishments to serve customers once a permit process is created and permits are issued.
Also on Monday, the council confirmed the appointment of Sean Crumby to the post of public works director.
The next meeting of the city council is set for Monday, July 20 at 4 p.m.
