OC’s COVID-19 numbers sliding

ORANGE COUNTY coronavirus cases reported on Sunday continued a weeklong decline (Shutterstock/Mongkolchan).

The daily tally of confirmed coronavirus cases declined for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday, according to the report of the Orange County Health Care Agency.

At 420 cases, the number has dropped continuously from 990 on Monday. The cumulative total is now 34,373.  Of that number, 19,121 are considered recovered. Two deaths were reported, bringing that total to 564. The number of cases now hospitalized is at 687, with 201 in intensive care units. .

The test-positivity statistic – showing which percentage of people testing for COVID-19 actually were infected regardless of whether they showed symptoms – was at 12.1, a decline from Saturday’ 12.7. The “goal” is 8 percent.

Here’s a list of the OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

Westminster has 636 cases with 16 deaths; Stanton has 402 cases with five deaths.
