Orange passes HB on virus list

Orange has leapfrogged Huntington Beach as the city with the fourth-most reported COVID-19 cases, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency’s report on Monday.

The city of Orange has 1,726 cases now, topping Huntington Beach with 1,719.

Overall, Monday’s tally showed 422 new cases, bringing the total to 37,831. Of those, 25,248 are considered recovered. No deaths were reported and the total number of fatalities remain at 651.

Five hundred and fifty-five people are hospitalized, with 175 in intensive care units.

The “test-positivity” metric continues to move into encouraging territory. The number – which indicates what portion of those who test positive for the infection actually have it, regardless of symptoms – is now at 8.9 percent, approaching the goal of 8 percent.

Also, the rate of new hospitalizations is at minus-8.6, surpassing the goal of 10.

• Santa Ana: 7,222 (175).
• Anaheim: 6,461 (157).
• Garden Grove: 2,012 (25).
• Orange: 1,726 (26).
• Huntington Beach 1,719 (47).

Westminster has 681 cases and 18 deaths; Stanton has 453 and six deaths.
