A grant of $62,302 has been received by the Huntington Beach Police Department to address alcohol-related harm in the community. The grant, provided by the Alcohol Beverage Control, will be used to put bad operators of firms that sell alcohol out of business, keep liquor away from minors and bring penalties against those merchants that violate the law and cause harm to the community.
Another “Santa Maria”-style barbecue will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge, located at Trask Avenue and Newhope Street. This drive-up/take-out only event will start at 11 a.m. and go until the food sells out. Your choice of tri-tip, chicken or ribs with sides is $15 or combo plate with three meats, sausage with sides is $20.
Three schools in the Garden Grove Unified School District have been recognized by the California Positive Behavorial Interventions and Supports Coalition for outstanding contributions of support during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting the disruptions to school. Honored were Heritage Computer Science Academy, Stanley Elementary School, and McGarvin Intermediate School.
