SMALLWOOD PLAZA, as originally designed and approved in 2018.

A long-delayed mixed use project for Main Street in downtown goes before the Garden Grove Planning Commission on Thursday, Sept. 3.

Planners will consider the reinstatement – with some modifications – of a three-story building at 12885 Main, south of Acacia Parkway, on the west side of the street. Applicant Avi Marciano is asking for a restart for a site plan originally approved in 2018. It was known as Smallwood Plaza.

The project would have 3,888-square feet of commercial space on the ground floor with nine residential units above. The concessions requested are a reduction in the size of a private open space balcony and a reduction in the size of a passive recreation area.

The planners will meet at 7 p.m. via teleconference.
