THE UNITED STATES leads the world in COVID-19 cases and deaths (Shutterstock).
There’s an old saying that goes “no news is good news.” The good non-news on Sunday is that that there were no deaths reported by the Orange County Health Care Authority for the day.
The count of daily COVID-19 positive cases was also an encouraging sum, at 170. The cumulative cases for the OC are at 50,930, of which 45,197 are considered recovered. Total fatalities are 1,093. One hundred ninety-six cases are hospitalized, of which 58 are in intensive care.
Here’s a list of the Orange County cities with the most cases, along with two area cities. Deaths are in parentheses.
- Santa Ana: 9,784 (258).
- Anaheim: 8,678 (236)
- Garden Grove: 2,779 (74).
- Orange: 2,323 (57).
- Huntington Beach: 2,292 (70).
Westminster has 961 cases and 24 deaths; Stanton has 627 cases and 12 deaths.
At the national and international level, Johns Hopkins University reports:
- Global cases at 28,891,686, led by United States at 6,519,121, followed by India with 2,754,356 and Brazil with 4,330,455.
- Global deaths are at 922,411, with the U.S. leading with 194,041, followed by Brazil with 131,625 and India with 78,586.
