The good news is that the Santa Ana Winds are slackening, which helps in containing the fires that have ravaged areas of north and east Orange County.

However, despite some reduction in the Santanas, the Silverado Fire has spread to over 11,000 acres. That fire, located generally east of Irvine, is considered 5 percent contained.

The Blue Ridge Fire near Brea and Yorba Linda has grown to 10,480 acres, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
