Unofficial final results for Orange County elections on Nov. 3 are showing the emergence of new faces and new trends.  The county, long a stronghold of conservatism, went solidly for the Democratic presidential nominee, former vice president Joe Biden by a margin of 686,230 votes (54.04 percent) to 560,733 votes (44.15) for the incumbent Republican President Donald Trump.

However, Republican did have their victories, including a possible win by Michelle Steel over incumbent Harley Rouda by a margin of 169,179 (50.29 percent) to 167,229 (49.71) for House District 48.

Another GOP win came in the 72nd Assembly District race, where former state senator Janet Nguyen will go back to Sacramento after besting Garden Grove city councilwoman Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen 101,875  (53.64 percent) to 88,051 (46.36 percent).

Here are the apparent winners – remember, these are unofficial results from the Orange County Registrar of Voters – of races of interest to The Tribune’s primary coverage area of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster. For latest results, go to www.ocvote.com .
