An update on the proposed Civic Center project and an amendment to an agreement with its potential developer tops the agenda for next week’s meeting of the Westminster City Council.
Sheldon Development LLC has an exclusive negotiating agreement with the City of Westminster for the re-use of the 8.32 -acre site that would include cash, building a new, possibly two-story city hall and make other improvements in city-owned buildings and landscape in exchange for the right to build 103 condominiums.
The site is generally bounded by Westminster Boulevard on the north, 13th Street on the south, All American Way on the east and Jackson Street on the west. It’s one block east of Beach Boulevard.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, the project has been delayed several times. In September, Sheldon received a 90-day extension to the agreement that expires on Nov. 12 – a day after the council meeting.
A third amendment to the agreement goes before the council. If approved it would extend the existing pact for another year, with options to extend for two more 90-day periods.
The meeting will be held via web conference on Wednesday, Nov. 11 with a closed session at 6 p.m. and an open session at 7 p.m.
