Park funds request on agenda

The process of getting funding for an upgrade of Woodbury Park may begin Tuesday night at the meeting of the Garden Grove City Council.

On a light agenda, the council will consider adopting a resolution approving a grant application for the Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant Program.

Prop. 68 was passed by California voters in 2018 and has over $395 million available in competitive grants. Requests on applications can range from $200,000 to $8.5 million, and the grants don’t require matching funds.

An application for money to renovate Woodbury Park – located at 13800 Rosita Place in a working class neighborhood – was submitted in 2019 but not selected. Now the city is trying again.

An informational meeting on the proposal will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at Woodbury Park.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m.
