City mgr. selection on agenda

A special meeting of the Westminster City Council will be held on Monday, Jan. 4 to consider appointment of a city manager. The meeting will be held via teleconference at 3 p.m.

The city has been without a permanent city manager since March. Sherry Johnson, formerly the city finance director, has been serving as interim city manager. 

Earlier this month, the council outlined the process for making the selection. There have been 48 applications submitted and council member were to review them and identify five candidates they wished to be interviewed. Those nominated will be subjected to a preliminary background investigation. An interview will be set, based on how many people will be interviewed.

From there, if the council selects a final candidate or candidates, a comprehensive background check would follow before a contract is offered.
