OC daily death total rises to 82

While other metrics tracking the path of the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County showed modest declines in Friday’s report, the number of deaths hit a new high of 82.

According to the county health care agency, fatalities from COVID-19 infections skyrocketed from 31 on Wednesday and 16 on Thursday to the peak record of mortality.

New cases, hospitalizations and virus patients being treated in intensive care units were down. Cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Orange County are now at 205,911, of which 132,950 are considered recovered. Total deaths are at 2,277.

Here is a list of the OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

• Santa Ana: 37,739 (429)
• Anaheim: 34,743 (462)
• Garden Grove: 13,144 (160)
• Orange: 9,704 (113)
• Fullerton: 9,148 (154)
• Huntington Beach: 8,321 (119).

Westminster has 5,628 cases and 72 deaths. Stanton has 2,597 cases and 28 deaths.
