The Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will consider a memorandum of understanding with the State of California to provide COVID-19 testing for staff and students when it meets on Tuesday night.

Under that agreement, the state would provide sample collection kits and shipping materials to the Valencia Regional Laboratory at a reduced-price for district staff and students until 30 day after the lifting of the declaration of the COVID-19 state of emergency.

The district would provide the facilities, staff and logistics to collect, pack and transport the samples to the VRL. The contractor would provide the testing kit, process the samples and give results to the district and staff.

Cost of the testing will be paid by federal CARES Act funding.

Also on the agenda are two presentations to the board.

Jason Bevacqua, assistant superintendent for personnel services, will make a presentation on National School Counseling Week, and Abby Broyles, public information officer, will speak about lunar New Year – Tet – recognition in the district.

The board will meet via telecommunication at 7 p.m. The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove and portions of Anaheim, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
