BEARCAT vehicle from Lenco. This may not be the specific vehicle the GGPD wishes to purchase (Lenco).
It’s not a tank, but it’s armored and is designed to take on people shooting at it and the people within.
At its meeting on Tuesday, May 11, the Garden Grove City Council will consider approval of the purchase of a public safety rescue response vehicle for the police department.
In the latter case, police could be confronted by large caliber weapons, mass casualty incidents and improvised explosive devices.
To pay for the BearCat, the police department is proposing that the cost could be covered by federal asset forfeiture funds and general fund revenue received from the seizure and disposition of illegal gambling money.
The meeting will be held in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. at 6:30 p.m.
