As expected, Orange County remains in the “yellow” or minimal tier for risk from the coronavirus. Tuesday’s weekly update from the California Department of Public Health shows Orange and Los Angeles as the only counties in Southern California with that status.
At the county level, statistics posted Tuesday showed continuing decreases in vital metrics measuring the impact of COVID-19 here.
The number of patients being treated for the virus in intensive care units went from 11 to nine.
To date, Orange County has had 255,070 cases, of which 248,552 have been judged recovered. Deaths are at 5,054.
Across the United States, cases have declined by 37 percent over the past two weeks, and deaths by 13 percent, according to The New York Times. The Los Angeles Times reports that – in California – cases have dropped 29 percent and deaths 30 percent over a similar period.
