THE HUNTINGTON BEACH Police Department has been given a grant to combat the sale of alcohol to minors.
The Huntington Beach Police Department has been awarded $62,302 from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control to conduct operations targeting licensed premises and individuals selling alcohol and alcoholic beverages to underage individuals. This year-long grant will aid the HBPD in their efforts to decrease underage drinking and DUI incidents by reducing youth access to alcohol.
- Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEADS) training to local ABC licensed establishments.
- Inspections of “on-sale” and “off-sale” ABC licensed locations.
- “Minor Decoy Operations” which involves underage decoys attempting to purchase alcohol from ABC licensed locations.
- “Shoulder Tap Operations” which involves underage decoys targeting adults who purchase alcohol for people under the age of 21.
This project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Alcohol Policing Partnership.
