Heavy agenda for city council

A full agenda with items ranging from skating to surfing to street closures will meet the Huntington Beach City Council when it convenes  on Tuesday.

The council will meet in study session at 4 p.m., closed session at 5 p.m. and regular session at 6 p.m. both in-person in the Council Chambers at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue) and via Zoom webinar.

Among the items to be considered are:

• consideration of extending closure of the second block of Main Street to vehicle traffic through Dec. 31;
• an agreement for an outdoor ice skating park at the Pier Plaza at Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway;
• an agreement with Ruby’s hospitality group to lease and operate the former Ruby’s Diner at the end of the city pier;
• approval of the formation of a charter revision committee to conduct a review of the city charter;
• consideration of a proposal for a public memorial honoring surfing icon Rick “Rockin’ Fig” Fignetti, and
• a feasibility analysis regarding the possible relinquishment of a portion of Pacific Coast Highway from Cal Trans to the city to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety. The area that would be affected would be from Seapoint Street to the Newport Beach city limit.
