The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County has passed 300,000.
According to the county health agency’s report Tuesday on the state of the pandemic here, there have been, to date, 300,531 cases, of which 288,247 are considered recovered. There have been 5,504 deaths.
Deaths (again, a four-day total) are at 29 and hospitalizations at 211. The use of intensive care units to treat COVID-19 patients dropped from 54 to 45.
At the national level, new cases are down 24 percent and deaths down 10 percent over a 14-day period, according to The New York Times. In California, the Los Angeles Times calculates that – over a similar period – cases are down 29 percent and deaths by 5 percent.
