“Needs” survey OKd by council

STANTON CITY COUNCIL on Tuesday approved hiring a firm to conduct a “community needs assessment” (File photo).

In an effort to better gauge public sentiment on how to spend the $9.12 million awarded to the city through the American Rescue Plan Act, the Stanton City Council on Tuesday night voted 5-0 to approve an agreement to conduct a survey.

ARPA is intended to combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, including economic impacts. The agreement, worth up to $44,000, is with Probolsky Research to perform a “community needs assessment.”

The ARPA money from the federal government must be spent by the end of 2024.
