Coronvirus “mini-surge” in OC?

What could be a “mini-surge” in new coronavirus cases in Orange County may be reflected in Friday’s count from the county health agency.

According to the OCHCA, there were 383 cases in that report, up from 292 on Thursday and 214 on Wednesday. Deaths, however, stayed level at three and hospitalizations declined from 215 to 212.

The use of intensive care units to treat patients with COVID-19 rose from 51 to 54.

To date, Orange County has had 306,657 cases, of which 294,945 are considered recovered. The death toll is at 5,615.

Nationally, The New York Times reports that – over a 14-day period – new cases are down 6 percent and deaths by 23 percent. In California, new cases are up 9 percent and deaths down 55 percent over a similar period.
