What could be another controversy-wracked meeting of the Westminster City Council is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The meeting, which will be held via teleconference/web conference only, has on the agenda some items which have brought out harsh words and extended argument in the past among council members, includes the following:
- the first reading of an ordinance on interactions between public officials and employees;
- consider submitting a measure on the June 7, 2022 ballot changing the office of mayor from direct election to being rotated among members of the city council, and changing from four to five council districts.
Also on the agenda are:
- consideration of the removal of Weston Seid from his position as member of the city planning commission;
- a request to discuss comments made by Vice Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen in local media and during council meetings;
- a public hearing to receive public input on the redistricting process.
- second reading and adoption of an ordinance requiring that council meetings conclude by midnight, or be extended beyond that time only by majority vote.
- consideration of special event applications from two organizations to hold the annual Tet Parade on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022.
The council will meet in closed session at 5 p.m. with the open session starting at 7 p.m.
