An ordinance banning nepotism in appointments to city boards, commissions and committees received its second and final approval at Wednesday’s meeting of the Westminster City Council.
The council voted 5-0 in favor of a policy prohibiting relatives of council members and top appointed city officials from serving on those various municipal panels. The policy applies to choices made as of Oct. 27, 2021.
Councilmember Kimberly Ho questioned the amount reported by the public works office and suggested that it be recalculated, based on the same costs charged for weed abatement. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided to take the matter up at a closed session at the next council meeting on Dec. 8.
