The Ocean View School District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, for the $26 million modernization of Marine View Middle School at 5682 Tilburg Drive in Huntington Beach. The event will feature local dignitaries, a ribbon cutting and tours featuring teachers and students interacting in their new state-of-the-art facilities.
“The classrooms at Marine View have been thoughtfully designed to provide opportunities for innovation, hands-on learning, and collaboration with peers,” said Dr. Carol Hansen, OVSD superintendent.
The project scope included building a new science lab, art lab, woodshop, media center, dance studio, and kitchen. In addition, the new facilities support Marine View’s comprehensive Visual and Performing Arts program and an array of electives, including Industrial Technology, 3-D Printing, Robotics, Woodshop, Art, Dance, Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Drama, Music, Guitar, Spanish, Leadership, and more.
“This magnificent new school delivers an exciting array of learning opportunities and activities for our students that will prepare them for success in high school and beyond,” commented Patricia Singer, president, OVSD Board of Trustees.
The district serves the communities of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Westminster, and Midway City.
