Snow storm hits Northeast

Today (Monday) is a holiday, but weather-wise there’s not much worth celebrating in the northeast of the United States.

A fierce winter storm has dropped a foot or more of snow in parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York state, according to the Associated Press. At the Buffalo, N.Y, airport 8.6 inches of snow fell in an hour; 15 inches of snow were reported in Cleveland and 25 inches in northeastern Ohio.

The weather has cancelled flights, knocked out electric power and shut down some COVID-19 vaccination sites. Two deaths have been attributed to the storm, according to United Press International.

Sports: Rams open playoffs vs. Cards.

And perhaps close them if they lose to the visitors from Arizona in tonight’s game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The Rams are a four-point favorite. The winner of this game will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida.

The winner of that game will face the winner of the Green Bay-San Francisco game for the NFC Conference title.

Weather: Winter remains

Just in case we in West Orange County forgot what season it is, Mother Nature is planning on a reminder in the form of some rain tonight. Tuesday should be partly cloudy with a 17 percent chance of rain and a daytime high of 66 (53 overnight), Wednesday will be similar (65/48) but the sun is expected to break through on Thursday with a high of 76 and 49 overnight.
