Overnight parking on some portions of Main Street may be banned, following a decision by the Stanton City Council Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 7800 Katella Ave.
The council is expected to:
- Approve a resolution restricting overnight parking on the North side of Main Street from the alley between Flower Avenue and Beach Boulevard to Chestnut Avenue, as well as on the South side of Main Street from Flower to Court Avenue.
- Renew authorization for virtual public meetings due to COVID-19
- Award a $33,784 construction contract to J. Kim Electric Inc for lighting upgrades at City Hall.
- Appoint Mayor David Shawver to serve as the city’s voting delegate for the Southern California Association of Governments Regional Conference General Assembly.
- Approve budget adjustments and changes to the staffing plan, which includes two new positions, shifting building inspections and plan check services from a contracted service to a service provided by city staff.
- Provide an update regarding homelessness within Stanton and resources being offered by the city.
The council will hold a public hearing regarding redistricting and introduce an ordinance laying out revised district lines, under California and federal Voting Rights Acts. A second reading and adoption is expected to take place at the March 22 regularly scheduled meeting.
