The long and glory-filled basketball seasons of two local teams came to a close Tuesday night as both lost CIF Southern Region championship games.
La Quinta of Westminster fell 63-53 to Chaffey High of Ontario in the boys’ Division 5 game. The Aztecs, who finished the year with a 22-12 record, were led by Shuaib Tahir with 17 points.
Orangewood Academy lost 61-58 to Windward High of Los Angeles in the girls’ Division I game. The Spartans, who finished the year at 24-10, were led by Hannah Stines, who scored 20 points, 12 of them on three-point shots.
