Overnight parking on some portions of Main Street has been banned, following a decision by the Stanton City Council Tuesday evening.

Several businesses claimed that the existing two-hour parking limit west of Beach Boulevard was difficult to enforce. Additionally, they said that nearby residents routinely parked overnight in front of their businesses, making no parking available for customers in the morning.

The council:

The council considered three different council electoral maps and ultimately chose the map that splits districts by major streets, keeping neighborhoods together.

“We don’t want to make this more convoluted than it has to be. This map is simple,” said Councilmember Carol Warren.

A second reading of the redistricting ordinance will take place at the City Council meeting March 22 at 6:30 p.m.
