Agreements with teachers and school site maintenance supervisors were approved by the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education at its meeting Tuesday night on a 5-0 vote.
Also Tuesday night, some members of the public expressed concerns about the Vietnamese Dual Immersion Program at John A. Murdy Elementary School in Garden Grove, citing what they felt were large class sizes and a lack of expertise on part of program teachers.
Masks, which have been a topic of controversy over the past couple of months, are no longer required at meetings and at GGUSD school sites. “Many emails have been sent about this already. From the student perspective, most students have chosen to remain masked and I want to remind everyone to be respectful of others’ choices,” said Jennifer Tran, a Bolsa Grande High School who is the student representative on the board.
The next board meeting is set for Tuesday, April 19. The GGUSD is a K-12 district serving most of Garden Grove and portions of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
