It’s a good news Monday

After peaking on Friday, Monday’s three-day average of confirmed new coronavirus cases showed improvement in Orange County.

According to the county health care agency, the latest report today showed 943 cases, which averages out to 314.33 cases, down from 731 on Friday. (OCHCA does not report statistics on weekends and holidays).

Deaths declined from eight on Friday to a three-day average of five (15 total).

Hospitalizations fell from 129 to 126 and the count of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care ticked down from 25 to 24.

So far, Orange County has had 545,787 cases, of which 534,402 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 6,843.

Nationally, The New York Times reports that new cases – over a 14-day period – are down 33 percent and deaths down 27 percent. In California, new cases and deaths have each dropped 41 percent, according to Los Angeles Times.
