SEVERAL league titles are on the line in baseball and softball action today (Shutterstock).

The regular and league seasons for area high school baseball and softball team are concluding. League championships are being settled and the next step is the CIF-SS playoffs.

Among today’s big softball games are Segerstrom at Ocean View. Those teams are first and second in the Golden West League. The Jaguars (9-0 in league) have clinched no worse than a tie for the title, but a win by the Seahawks (8-1) would force them to share the crown.

In the Empire League softball race, Pacifica and Kennedy (each 8-1) seem likely to finish in a tie. The Mariners host Valencia (4-5) and the Fighting Irish visit Crean Lutheran (0-8).

As for baseball, all the Empire League games are crucial, as three teams are within a game of each other at the top. Cypress (7-2 in league) hosts Tustin (6-3). Pacifica (6-3) hosts Valencia (1-8). If the Tillers and Mariners win, that would mean a three-way tie for the title. If the Centurions triumph, it’s their championship.

In the Golden West League, Segerstrom (9-0 in league) has a one-game lead over Ocean View (8-1). When the two teams clash at OVHS today, the Seahawks can grab a piece of the title with a win.

Here are Wednesday’s results for teams serving the communities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.
