Victim dies; now it’s “murder”

AN ANAHEIM now faces a murder charge in the death of a Garden Grove man (Shutterstock).

Now it’s murder.

A suspect arrested in the shooting of a Garden Grove man on May 7 will now face a murder charge.

According to Detective Sgt. Evan Beresford of the GGPD, the victim – now identified as Dave Abbott, 57 – has died. He passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 12.

Ali Samoodi, 51, of Anaheim, is suspected of the fatal shooting that took place in a home in the 5300 block of Santa Barbara Avenue.  He left the scene in a rented U-Haul truck and led police, Riverside Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol units in a pursuit that was finally concluded in the area of Interstate 10 and Cedar Avenue. He was arrested and booked for attempted murder.

The investigation is still ongoing and any witnesses with information about the incident are asked to call the GGPD Detective Terra Ramirez at (714) 741-5839.

  1. You guys printed a story about Dave’Abbott’s who was murdered in Garden Grove. I’m his next to Kin, his oldest daughter and this was very unexpected and it’s ongoing investigation and beg for people who know more to come forward , and this was unexpected loss of him I now have expenses from funeral, lost wages, travel etc for family.   2. Sorry for your loss and the hard times your family is facing. I have know Ali for more than 30 years. It was shocking to find out about such a tragic incident. I agree with you. There was no boyfriend relationship ali was not gay. Far from it.
