Two are injured in GG car crash

A power outage may have contributed to a two-car injury accident this week in Garden Grove.

According to reports, the crash took place around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Euclid Street and Chapman Avenue. Police believe that the vehicles collided head-on at an intersection where a power outage shorty before had knocked out street lights and – possibly – traffic signals.

Two people suffered injuries in the crash. They were treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

No “threat” at Dwyer School

A text message described as “concerning” relating to Dwyer Middle School in Huntington Beach this week led to a “shelter in place” order at the school on Friday.

According to the HBPD, students and staff were directed to stay in their classrooms while officers could investigate. “The concerning text message was not substantiated and there is no associated public safety threat,” said the HBPD in a statement. The “shelter in place” order lasted about two hours.

Dwyer is located at 1502 Palm Ave. in Huntington Beach. It’s part of the Huntington Beach City School District and serves grades six through eight.

“Hit and run” vehicle, driver sought

Santa Ana police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in a May 2020 fatal accident.

According to the SAPD, the incident took place in a roadway near the intersection of Raitt and St. Anne streets at around 11p.m. on May 18, 2020.

A male was found down in the street with “major trauma.” He was treated at the scene and pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victim was walking or jogging in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle headed north on Raitt.  The auto was “possibly” a white sedan which fled the scene before police could arrive. Neither the driver or the vehicle have been identified.
