Spindle retires from Chamber

Cindy Spindle retired on June 30 from her post as CEO/President of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce after eight and a half years of service.

“A great big thank you goes out to my assistant, Sunny Ruvalcaba-Medel, who is the sweetest person to work with,” she said.

“Our chamber is the best in Orange County because of our board of directors who volunteer many hours to the business community. The City of Garden Grove staff has been wonderful to work with together to help make Garden Grove the best place to live, work, and play.

“I will miss you all but cherish the many friendships I have made and I look forward to my next chapter in life as my husband, Paul, and I travel in our RV the next couple of months.”

WSD gets another accolade

The Westminster School District was recently recognized as a California Pivotal Practice Award Program. CAPP districts are honored for implementing “an innovative practice” during the school year.

Additionally, 13 WSD schools were honored: Anderson, Clegg, DeMille, Eastwood, Fryberger, Stacey. Johnson, Meairs, Schmitt, Schroeder, Sequoia, Webber and Willmore.

The WSD is a K-8 district serving most of Westminster and portions of surrounding communities.

Recreation scholarships in Stanton

Scholarships for recreation activities are now available for those in need of financial assistance for fee-based classes and programs held by the City of Stanton.

Be safe on that bicycle in HB

The Huntington Beach Police Department will be holding a free “Bicycle Rodeo” on Tuesday, July 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Jax Bicycle Center, 410 Main St. in Huntington Beach.

Bring your bikes and learn about bicycle and pedestrian safety. There will be an obstacle course, coloring books and free helmets and safety gear for the kids.
