Cavaliers take lead in GGL

SANTIAGO defeated La Quinta in a key Garden Grove League boys’ basketball game on Wednesday night (Shutterstock).

Santiago moved into a one-game lead in the Garden Grove League boys’ basketball race with a 55-48 win over La Quinta on Wednesday night at the Cavalier gym.

The win improved the Cavs to 6-1 in GGL play while the Aztecs fell to 5-2. Both of La Quinta’s league losses came at the hand of Santiago.

Overall, Santiago is 16-9 and La Quinta is 12-13.

On the girls’ side, Santiago also defeated La Quinta, 42-36. With the win, the Cavs (6-0 in league, 12-7 overall) have a two-game lead over La Quinta and Loara (each 4-3) with three games left to play.
