The Los Angeles Angels offense, mostly missing in Tuesday’s loss to the Chicago White Sox, showed up strong against them on Wednesday, winning 12-5.

Five home runs were hit by the Orange County team, by Mike Trout (his 13th of the year), Shohei Ohtani (his 14th and 15th), Taylor Ward (sixth) and Chad Wallach (fourth). Ohtani had the best day at bat, going 2-for-3 with two homers, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Jaime Barria (2-2) had a strong outing, working five innings and giving up one run on four hits. He struck out six batters and walked three. Reliever Tucker Davidson was less successful, working three innings and getting tagged for seven hits and four earned runs. He did, however, pick up his second save.

With the win, the Angels are 30-27 and remain third in the American League West. On Thursday they will be in Houston to begin a series against the second place Astros (32-22),

Dodgers fall to the Nationals

A late rally by the Washington Nationals lifted them into a 10-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday in Chavez Ravine. The visitors scored three times in the eighth and twice in the ninth to secure the win.

With the loss, the Blue Crew is 34-23, still in first place in the National League West.

The Dodgers had 11 hits, including home runs by Mookie Betts (two) and Will Smith.

Noah Syndergaard had another tough outing, giving up five earned runs on seven hits, including three home runs. His ERA is now at 6.54.  Brusdar (2-2) took the loss as he gave up a three-run home run to Luis Garcia that gave the Nats the lead.

Thursday is an off-day for the Dodgers. They will be back in action on Friday to start a series with the New York Yankees.
