Approval of the municipal budget for 2023-2024 tops the agenda for an regular meeting (adjourned from June 20) of the Huntington Beach City Council on Monday.

The session, which is slated to begin at 5 p.m., includes a “budget balancing plan” to address a projected deficit in the fiscal year 2024-25.

At a recent council meeting, city finance staff reported that – with additional staff approved for the new fiscal year – the city may need to make cuts in spending, including possibly closing three library branches, cutting hours at the central library by 11 hours a week, reducing beach restroom cleaning during non-peak season months, closing the Senior Center on Saturdays, and more.

Also, the council will consider a resolution approving and implementing a memorandum of understanding between the city and the Huntington Beach Police Management Association.

The council meets in its chambers  at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
