COVID deaths down to one

THE NUMBER of confirmed new deaths from coronavirus in Orange County is down to just one this week (Shutterstock).

Some good news, some bad news on the Orange County coronavirus front.

The latest data from the county health care agency shows that for the week ending Wednesday, the county had just one death related to COVID-19. That figure is down from seven the week before and 10 reported for the week of June 29.

However, confirmed new cases rose for the first time in weeks. The newest weekly count shows 528 cases, up from 371 last week and 428 the week before.

To date, total confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County since the outbreak are at 726,695. Deaths are at 8,233.
