Angels lose fourth straight

The bullpen again let the team down on Friday night, yielding one run each in the eight and ninth innings as the Los Angeles Angels lost 9-7 to the Seattle Mariners in Anaheim.

It was their fourth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 56-55 and kept them in fourth place in the American League West. Mike Moustakas – but the M’s hit four. The Orange County team rallied from 5-1 and 7-5 deficits, but the relief corps – Reynaldo Lopez and Aaron Loup gave up three hits a walk and two runs.

Starter Reid Detmers had a rough four innings, giving up nine hits and seven earned runs. He struck out four batters, walked two and was tagged for three home runs.

The Angels will try to end their skid on Saturday when they send Tyler Anderson (5-2) to the mound.

Late rally lifts Dodgers to win

The Los Angeles Dodgers broke up a close game with eight runs in the last two innings to beat the San Diego Padres 10-5 at Petco Park.

With five hits with runners in scoring position, the Blue Crew and a balanced offense – four batters had two hits and six drove in runs —the team improved its record to 63-45, still leading the National League West  by three games over the San Francisco Giants (61-49).

James Outman homered for the Dodgers, his 13th of the season. The two teams will play again on Saturday in the second game of a four-game series.
