A good month for Blue Crew

So far, August has been good to the Los Angeles Dodgers. With Sunday’s 8-2 win over the San Diego Padres in Petco Park, the Blue Crew has won five of six games played this month, all against other California teams.

With the victory, the Dodgers are 64-46 and lead the San Francisco Giants by four games in the National League West.

LAD got off to a fast start, building a 6-0 lead after two innings. The Dodgers got three home runs, one each by Freddie Freeman (his 23rd), Mookie Betts (30th) and Amed Rosario (fifth). Freeman was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Enrique Hernandez was 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Lance Lynn (8-9) picked up the win, working six innings and giving up just four hits and one earned run. He struck out six batters and walked one.

The series will wrap up on Monday when Tony Gonsolin (6-4) takes the mound for the Dodgers.

Halo losing streak reaches six

The beat-ing goes on. The Los Angeles Angels suffered their sixth consecutive loss on Sunday, falling 3-2 in 10 innings to the Seattle Mariners in Anaheim. It was also a sweep of the four-game series by the M’s.

With the loss, the Halos are under .500 with a 56-57 record and in fourth place in the American League West. Only three games out in the AL wild card race a few days ago, the team is now seven games back with four teams ahead of them.

Chase Sileth had a good outing for the home team, lasting seven innings and giving up just four hits – including two home runs – and two earned runs. He struck out 12 batters and walked just one.

The winning run came in the top of the 10th when Eugenio Suarez singled home Ty France. In the bottom of the 10th, all the Angels could manage was a fly out and two strikeouts.

On Monday, the Halos will try to end their slide when they open a three-game homestead against the San Francisco Giants.
