Kittens saved; eight lives left

There’s five cats in Garden Grove with just eight lives left.

Firefighters from the from the Orange County Fire Authority saved a home in the 10500 block of Paloma Avenue (southwest of Century and Garden Grove boulevards) by confining fire to a garage.

A smoke alarm alerted the resident to the fire at 10:39 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, but that wasn’t all they did. They rescued five kittens from the back patio, preventing them from inhaling the potentially deadly smoke.

The cause is under investigation and the OCFA reminds people that “smoke alarms really do save lives,” including those of pets.
