HUNTINGTON BEACH police vehicle (HBPD).

A light pickup truck drove into and out of the Kohl’s department store in Huntington Beach Friday evening.

According to the HBPD, the incident was reported shortly before 8 p.m. from the store in the Bella Terra center at Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue.

Arriving officers found three people inside the store with non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Officers saw the vehicle leaving the scene and gave chase. The truck was finally stopped in the 16000 block of Beach Boulevard due to the use of the police’s PIT (Precisions Immobilization Technique ) in which a fleeing vehicle is forced to abruptly turn 180 degrees, causing it to stall and stop. The driver was taken into custody.

The preliminary investigation indicates at driving under the influence appears to be a factor, and no suspects remain at large.

The investigation is ongoing.
