A traffic collision between an automobile and a motorcycle took the life of a Costa Mesa man Sunday night in Huntington Beach.
According to Jessica Cuchilla of the HBPD, police were notified of the crash on Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue at around 7 p.m.
The collision was between a blue BMW X3 sport utility vehicle and a blue Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers found the cyclist – a 61-year-old man – deceased at the scene. The driver of the BMW, an 82-year-old Huntington Beach man, was uninjured. He cooperated with investigators and impairment doesn’t seem to be a factor.
It’s not known if impairment was a factor with the motorcyclist.
It’s believed that the BMW was moving westbound on Hamilton and was making a left turn onto Magnolia and the Harley-Davidson was traveling eastbound on Hamilton and into the intersection of Magnolia where the two vehicles collided.
Anyone who may have seen seen the collision or events leading up to it is asked to call HBPD Traffic Investigator J. Rounds at (714) 536-5666.
