Senior project appeal mulled

A public hearing on the development of the Bolsa Chica Senior Living Project – and the appeal of its earlier approval by the planning commission – tops the agenda of Tuesday’s Huntington Beach City Council.

The proposed project would be developed on an approximately 3.10 acre site into a new five-story convalescent facility. It would have 202 total units, an underground parking garage and landscape improvements with on-site alcohol sales and consumption. The 298,000 square foot facility would have a maximum height of 65 feet.

Location of the proposed development is the southwest corner of Bolsa Chica Street and Warner Avenue.

In August the planning commission approved the project, but an appeal to the council was request by Councilmember Casey McKeon and Brian Thienes. The hearing of the appeal was tabled in November to this meeting.

Also on the agenda is a measure submitted by three council members to consider establishment of a monthly program to honor the historic heritage of the United States, California and Huntington Beach.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in its chambers at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
