The accidental killing of three Israeli hostages by Israeli troops has led to a call for a cease-fire from European allies.
Protesters in Israel are urging their government to re-open negotiations with the Hamas leadership. The death of the three hostages, who were shirtless and bearing a white flag, raised concerns that Israeli forces’ rules of engagement were either being flouted or went too far in pursuing their war against their enemy.
Humanitarian aid – food, water, fuel and medical supplies – have been reduced to a tiny flow, although aid passed into Gaza passed from Israel for the first time on Sunday.
Negotiators from White House, Senate seek deal
In an effort to reach a deal over security at the border with Mexico, White House negotiators and those from the Senate met Sunday with no breakthrough reported.
Such an agreement could lead to approval for more military help for Ukraine as it battles Russian invaders.
Former president Donald Trump raised eyebrows by making comments that some critics compared to Nazi slogans about “racial purity.” Trump told people at a political rally, “They’re poisoning the blood of our country,” in reference to the flow of illegal aliens entering the U.S.

The forecast for Monday is for cloudy skies with a daytime high of 74 and an overnight low of 58. Tuesday will see showers and a high of 67 (56). Thunderstorms will follow on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will see the return of partly cloudy skies, which should continue nearly to the end of the month.
