BISHOP STREET scene of death (WPD photo).
A 36-year-old Garden Grove man is dead after being struck in a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning in Westminster.
According to Commander Kevin MacCormick of the WPD, the incident took place on Bishop Street west of Brookhurst Street. Officers were dispatched to that location around 4:43 a.m. in reference to a report of this collision.
Arriving officers found a man lying in the street with injuries “consistent with being struck by a vehicle.” Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and pronounced the man – whose identity is being withheld pending notification of his family – dead at the scene.
A “possible” witness told officers the man had been struck by a vehicle – described as a small dark sedan – which left the scene moving westbound on Bishop Street at Belgrade Street.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Sgt. Anil Adam of the WPD Traffic Division at (714) 548-3770.
