More than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria used by militias supported by Iran were hit Friday by United States air attacks. The Pentagon says those locations hit included command and control headquarters, intelligence centers, rockets and missiles, storage sites and more.
President Joe Biden said, “Let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: if you harm an American, we will respond.”
Three of the locations hit were in Iraq and four in Syria. More retaliatory attacks by the U.S. are expected. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson criticized the timing of the bombings for not being swift enough.
Trump trial postponed to … when?
The date of the trial of former president Donald Trump on charges of seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election will be changed to a date still uncertain.

Federal Judge Tanya Chutkan struck March 4 from the court’s calendar to begin that trial. She said she would set a new date for the trial when a decision is reached on Trump’s claim that Trump is immune from prosecution for any acts he committed as president.
That theory is now before the United States Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. If that court rejects it, it may still be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Observers speculate that Chutkan’s decision may mean that the trial will not be concluded during the presidential campaign.
Carl Weathers of ‘Rocky’ fame dead at 76

Former football player Carl Weathers who won fame playing boxer Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” series of movies, has died at age 76. The cause of death was not given.
The flamboyant Creed character, modeled somewhat on Muhammed Ali, started as the opponent of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and became his friend.
The character of Creed appeared in four “Rocky” movies and was killed in the fourth.
DA’s ‘personal relationship’ could affect Trump case
The Atlanta district attorney prosecuting former president Donald Trump for allegedly trying to interfere in the 2020 election in Georgia may end up being removed from the case. Fani Willis admitted on Friday that she had a “personal relationship” with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, but denied it affected the trial.
In a statement, she said that the relationship “has never involved direct or indirect financial benefit to … Willis” and denied any other conflict of interest.
Trump is on trial because of alleged attempts to influence the outcome of the 2020 election in which Georgia played a crucial role. The former president allegedly pressed the governor and election officials to “find him” enough votes to keep its Electoral College votes from going to Joe Biden.
Weather: Clouds, then rain, rain, rain
After a couple of days off, the “Pineapple Express” storm soaking our West Orange County area will be back on Sunday for an extended stay. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy conditions on Saturday with a high of 61 and a low of 58. The rain will continue through Tuesday with temperatures ranging from 62 (highs) to 48 (lows). The wet stuff is considered likely to be with us at least through Friday, Feb. 9.
