President Joe Biden warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that continued American military supplies to Israel depended on efforts to protect civilians in Gaza and aid workers trying bring to food and other living necessities to those in need.
Biden also reportedly urged that an immediate cease-fire in exchange for the roughly 100 Israeli hostages held by Hamas was essential, as world opinion is demanding it in a conflict that has already taken the lives of an estimate 30,000 Gazans.
Request to dismiss Trump charges fails
A motion to dismiss charges against former president Donald Trump that he improperly kept classified government records after leaving the White House was rejected on Thursday.
Federal Judge Aileen Cannon ruled that the Presidential Records Act doesn’t allow for “pretrial” dismissal of the case. At issue is the precise meaning of the act, passed in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal in the 1970s.
No trial date has been set for the start of the trial.
Sports: A’s off to Sacramento
The Oakland A’s have made an arrangement to play their next three seasons at a minor league baseball stadium in West Sacramento, making 2024 their last season in the East Bay City.
In 1968 the A’s moved from Kansas City to Oakland. They had previously moved from Philadelphia. The “new” stadium is Sutter Health Park, home to the Sacramento River Cats, with whom the A’s will share. It has seats for 10,624 and capacity can be expanded to 14,014 with lawn chairs and standing room.
The A’s are making the move to Las Vegas in 2027 or 2028, depending on when the new stadium is ready.
