‘Town Center’ plan gets approval

Another step toward creating a “downtown” for Stanton was taken by the city council when it met on Tuesday.

The specific plan for “Town Center” in the northeast of the city was introduced at the the March 26 meeting. The affected area is about 157 acres and is served by Katella Avenue and Beach Boulevard.

The vote was 3-0 with Mayor David Shawver and Councilmember Carol Warren absent.

In general the boundaries of the Town Center run slightly west of Beach Boulevard, west of Dale Street, south of Cerritos Avenue and north of Katella Avenue.

Under the plan, there will be rezoning to permit mixed-use development including business parks commercial uses, high-density residential and single-family neighborhoods.
