It wasn’t a fun Sunday for LA-Orange County big league baseball teams.
They both lost, the Los Angeles Angels falling 4-2 to the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 to the San Diego Padres.
The Angels (15-26) committed two errors and managed just six hits. Willie Calhoun had the best day at bat, going 3-for-4, driving in two runs and scoring once. He’s now hitting. 333.
With the loss, the Angels remain in fifth and last place in the American League West, having lost seven of their last 11 games. They’re 5-14 at home.
Ohtani sits it out, Dodgers offense also
Superstar Shohei Ohtani sat out Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres with “tightness” in his back and the rest of the Los Angeles Dodgers offense wasn’t present either.
The Padres’s Yu Darvish (3-1) stifled the Dodgers, working seven innings while yielding two hits, striking out seven batters and walking just one.
After Sunday’s loss, the Dodgers are 27-15 – still in first place in the National League West – and 5.5 games ahead of the second place Padres (22-21).
