A 20-year-old man who was shot during an incident Sunday night in Stanton may face charges.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, a call was received at 7:49 p.m. from a man who claimed he had shot a man who was assaulting a woman in the 7100 block of Custer Way.
Arriving deputies found a 20-year-old Hispanic man suffering from a gunshot wound. They began performing first aid until relieved by Orange County Fire Authority paramedic-firefighters. He was then transported to a local trauma center.
The man who reported the shooting to sheriff’s deputies remained at the scene and was interviewed by investigators and later released at the scene. Deputies believe he is a rideshare driver who was dropping off a passenger nearby.
The woman who had been assaulted was treated at the scene by the OCFA . The male suspect was treated at a local hospital where was listed in critical but stable condition.
